You built a website (some nice web hosting company developed it for you, or his mother’s friend’s son). You waited and waited and waited… but nothing happened.

Let’s talk about another case. You were selling well and then something changed. Sales were down. Then they decreased more and finally disappeared completely. Is your product out of fashion? Have customers run out of money? What happens?

Then there is another possible case. You’ve already tried everything. You keep changing advertisers like shirts. The money is leaving. The promises are pouring in, but the sales aren’t coming.

1. You don’t have a website

Well, your site may officially exist, but customers aren’t seeing it. A website without ads is like a spade without hands: it stands alone, but does not dig the garden. If you don’t do anything to promote the site, you can assume that you just don’t have it.

2. The website is not working properly

The most common problems are that the site takes a long time to load (especially when using the mobile Internet) and there is no mobile version.

Users cannot make a purchase or order in 5–6 clicks, even if they know where to click. If there are problems in the technical part, there will be no sales. Go to Google Analytics and evaluate your bounce rate. If it is more than 60%, time to worry, if it is more than 80% — sound the alarm.

3. Wrong audience targeting

You are advertising “everything to everyone” or you are trying to attract the wrong customer who is not ready to buy your products or services. This situation is indicated by high traffic and low conversions on the website.

4. Your product is not of interest to the public or the price is too high

Competitor analysis will help in this case. If they sell similar at a similar price, then the product is fine. If the price can be lowered to remain profitable — do it and you can run a promotion (just be careful).

If the price is the minimum possible, but still too high for the consumer, then there is a problem with the product presentation. Think about what extra you could offer.

5. Your website is invisible

Imagine visiting a website and seeing a browser warning: “This website may be potentially dangerous! Do you really want to visit him at your own risk?”, and after clicking “I want” ask two more times if you are sure.

This issue may occur if your site does not have an ssl certificate. A small detail that you could once ignore, but now browsers are already warning about the potential danger.

Resolved by installing the certificate and checking its validity (a link to your site will get https at the beginning instead of http). Remember that the links to the pages will change after this.

The second problem is poor internal website optimization. Undefined tags, duplicate titles, no bot txt etc. Also, there may be a problem with stolen texts with a low uniqueness rate.

If this is the case, the search engine will drop you deep in the search engine results. Therefore, your website will just gather dust by being invisible to customers.
